On Swallowing Basketballs...

Gavin is starting to turn the corner! I can't begin to explain how scary they first few days are with an infection while we wait and see what his body is going to do and if he will respond -- or not. Once again our bionic boy seems to be pulling through once again.

Nothing really new to report besides the seemingly large basketball he seemed to have swallowed overnight, (his liver and spleen.) We are going to give him a round of lasix to try to pull some fluid off his body as he is having some minor difficulty moving air due to the size of his abdomen. His fevers are become less severe and spread longer apart, which is making for a happier Gavin.

I haven't heard his counts yet but I'm assuming he may need another round of blood and possibly platelets -- we'll see.

Thanks as always for thinking of us!

I loved reading a "turn-around" post! Gavin, you have a lot of people rooting for you. Hope the lasix does the trick fast!
P.S. you wouldn't happen to be the "real" SUPERMAN?!!! :)

You know...it must be something about the name Gavin. We call our Gavin our "Superhero". Hey, if the shoe fits.....
So glad he turned the corner. Tell him baseball is a much cooler sport. Or Ping Pong! That's even better!! Hope your day, and Gavin's, continues to improve.

Pennies...hairclips (Lauren likes these)....basketballs....I guess all kids have to swallow something they shouldn't. Hope to hear that the basketball deflates and he continues feeling better. We all hate fungus ad irritating people who try to make us feel bad. You are right about one thing.....no one has any idea what living our life is like. I actually think you are pretty calm about the whole thing. In my prayers always, Katie
