Saturday Morning Update...

Gavin is doing great! You look at him and would never know the trauma he has endured this past week. He is still heavily medicated but he doesn't seem to be breaking through the meds as much. We got him up in is chair yesterday for a short while and he seemed just fine, as far the pain in his belly. He is still running temps but I think we have all decided that this is just part of Gavin's Mitochondrial issues, another way his body responds to imbalance and change. We'll see. Cultures are still being drawn daily.

I think we just might actually get to move up to the floor today! I expressed this morning that I would prefer to go up there, mainly just because I really would like a bathroom and shower in my room, not to mention that I really want to bring Madison back to stay with us. I think it will be good for Gavin as well.

I can imagine that some of you have questions as for as the surgery and about Gavin and our family in general. Please feel free to ask them. It's going to be a boring weekend and Adam and I have plenty of time to do a little Q and A.

A weekend on the floor is so much better than a weekend in the PICU! I'm so glad Gavin is feeling better.

I'm sure you can't wait to get the Omegaven flowing! I know I'm itching to see it happen for you guys!

Have a great Saturday!

We are so very happy to hear that Gavin is feeling better and got moved to a regular room. I'm so sorry the poor sweetie had such a rough week. Your family is amazing. I just watched the video of Madison seeing Gavin's new tummy for the first time, she is such a smiling sweetheart. You can see the love for her little brother in her eyes.
Wishing you all a calm weekend full of happy moments together.

My only question- Do you guys know that you're the best mom and dad in the world? Oh, & Madison should be nominated for best sister? Gavin looks SO good! What a wonderful way to wake up and see him today! I'll be smiling all day!

So glad that each day seems to be improving and a little more relief for all of you in one way or another...a shower, some rest, good news, etc....

It's been such an honor to share in this journey with you and I hope my comments are familiar by now...so, I will ask a question...

I think I briefly said in one comment that my little girl had e coli. when she was 9 weeks old...and the range of emotions I felt during those 9 days in the hospital were crazy! And, she was relatively quickly "fixed"....

So, how are you coping? Have you experienced a million emotions--from anger to why? to joy..and what are the things/ways that get you guys through the roughest parts of handling Gavin's condition....

I just know my heart aches for you as a Mom and knowing how difficult it must be but just praying that your burden won't be so heavy and that you'll find strength ever increasing with each day that you didn't even know you were capable of!!! :)

Many Blessings!

I hope you get moved to the floor. That would be awesome! I know Gavi used to have trouble absorbing nutrients, etc, correct? How will he absorb them and grow now without those vital organs?

Thanks for sharing such a sweet moment with us - it was beautiful to seem the two of them together! You can see how much they need to physically touch each other & how happy they are to see each other. Melts my heart! Praying that the coming days & weeks bring many more of the same as Gavin continues to recuperate & grow stronger & that you get some "fishy" business going on!!

Question for the Q & A?

When did you find out that Gav had a Mito disease?

Hoping and praying for good results from the surgery!
