Wednesday Afternoon...

Gavin is doing a little better this afternoon as far as pain control. It was decided in rounds this morning to put Gavi on a Morphine pump in addition to the morphine dose every 2 hours. He is still waking up moaning but much less than earlier this morning. No major plans other than to try to hydrate him, which has it's associated complications. Lets just pray again for lots of pee. He is still running a fever and no word yet on the cultures.

At this point I'm feeling a bit better. My two main concerns are his fever and his coloring, which is looking rather pale/yellow. I know he is in amazing hands here in the PICU so I'm just trying to sit back and relax, which for those who know me understand this is very difficult for me to do.

We did talk to the surgeon who said he would put back in Gavin's previous gtube for me. Right now he has a mic button, which everyone seems to love, but I love the peg tube and so does Gavin. In fact Gavin keeps trying to find his tube and it's not there, which has him frustrated. His PEG tube has become a source of comfort for him -- weird I know, but so true.

Glad to hear that time has managed to allow for some pain relief.Hate, hate, hate to hear he feels so bad.The moaning makes me sad.Hoping the day brings further progress in the pain department. As for the g-tube.We too are a fan of the mickey as well but it comes down to fit, comfort and yes, not just the physical comfort but the emotional side of that as well.So give the poor baby back his PEG.Small request for such a little trooper. Not weird at all.Totally get it.I won't say relax.Instead I say breathe.Just breathe.

We LOVE pee...crank it out God, cause his little body to function as You created it to do, let it flow out, be his comfort and cause Your peace to overflow out of Adam and Karen. Sustain them all Father, in Jesus name, AMEN

Glad to hear things have settled down a little. You could probably use a great big glass of wine or a margarita maybe?!?! Do they allow that in the PICU? I hope prayers will suffice! You've certainly got a lot of them headed your way!!!

Praying that each passing hour brings him (and you) relief from the pain. Hopefully, he will not remember going though this as he is so young. We are all praying to the pee angels to help him go to drop some of the fluid. Hopefully, Karen, you will get a much needed nap soon.

I am glad Gavin's pain is getting under control. I am praying for a quick recovery and for you and Adam to find the peace and comfort you need right now. It's not weird about the PEG tube. It's his 'norm' and he used to it. Take care!

Father in heaven, how I wish this family could hold our love and support. Feel the weight of the buckets overflowing. We are just typed messages, heartfelt, sent through cyberworld. Lord, could You let them "feel" our love and concern expressed through prayer and encouragement? We so need You and each other as we face these tough trials.
Father, we are promised golden rewards in Your Word. Works Jesus receives all the credit for that You allow us to be a part of. I pray that this dear family would have a vision of the paved streets in heaven...paved with gold...under their feet...paved with the golden reward of their costly walk by faith through this trial in Jesus' Name. Father, have victory in this valley. Allow Gavin to rest and recover to serve You. Allow this family to glorify You and even minister through this. Give victory. Place Your Beautiful Nail-Scarred Hand on Gavin and heal Him. Thy Perfect Will be done. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Thank you, Travis Cottrell, for sharing this need. God bless.

Praying so hard that no news is really really good news; that you've had some time to get rest; that Gavin is resting comfortably & healing quickly; that Maddie finds comfort in this storm of life.
