Positive Culture...

Gavin's blood cultures are positive -- and that's great news because the bacteria is not from his gut! It's the same bacteria that was growing in both his fem lines so most likely when the fem was pulled the bacteria then went to the new line. This is actually good news -- something treatable and also an answer.

Gavin is still "asleep." The clarify -- he is not in a coma, just in a trance like state. We will be going down for an MRI this afternoon to be sure nothing neurological is going on. Gavin is getting more albumin this morning followed by more lasix. His one eye is completely swollen shut and his body is very puffy.

Thanks for your prayers and positive comments!

We are praying for all of you! I hope to never understand your situation, but know that I can relate to the fear of the unknown. It is so difficult not knowing what ails our little ones. We are sending prayers and well wishes to the entire Owen's family.

I'm glad that they've finally identified the infection...now they can treat it. I know what you mean about him just not being the same post surgery. Seizure medications have the same effect on kids. Some of them just completely numb them up and make them almost completely unresponsive. It sucks what we have to put our kids through to try to help them! But in the end...we have to help them! You are doing everything possible to help Gavin and he IS going to fight through this! Continued prayers for you all!

Oh my, but the rollercoaster ride isn't over yet, is it? I guess the best way to ride is with your arms straight up in the air! And lifting them up to the Lord! Those drops are so scary...
I just want you to know that as I prayed for y'all, I just felt so impressed to let you know that you are doing ALL you can. And to just rest in that right now. Drink of the Living Water often. It will sustain you through this.
Thank You, Lord, for providing more answered prayers. Continue holding this family in Your Grip. Proverbs 3:5-6...let it minister to them through all of this. In Jesus Name. Amen.

WOO HOO---celebrating a positive culture...your life is unique.
God, touch little Gavin and awaken him and cause things to start functioning. Pour out Your peace on the family and cause Your joy to well up in Gavin...bring back the little man they have known him to be. God this is so amazingly difficult but Your Word says that You can make a way where there seems to be no way. A road in the wilderness, a river in a desert...Father make a way beyond what man thinks or understands...in Jesus name, AMEN

I have kept up on your blog and want you to know that I continue to lift up your little boy in prayer. We don't know you, but we are all a part of the family of God and that means every one matters.

I like tha analogy someone else wrote about the roller coaster and if you can just keep your arms up high praising God the whole way....so hard to do sometimes, but when your arms are up, no weights can sit on your shoulders.
Keep dropping your burdens of fear and the unknow at the Cross and know that help is on the way.

God will never forget you or forsake you and He loves each one of you every moment. I pray tonite you would feel His Mighty Arms holding you close in His.

"The LORD will guide you continually,
And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail."
Isaiah 58:11

We're continuing to pray for personality resurrection--among other things. May He refresh your souls and bring renewed energy and clarity for the endless task list--which, evidently, has not reached its limit yet. He is the strength-giver, so we will trust Him to provide.
