Issues...

We've got lots of issues right now that we are dealing with. Gavin's blood counts continue to fall and seem to be falling faster than we can get blood into him. Yesterday we spent the day at the hospital getting blood and another injection of the GCSF, which right now we are only getting twice weekly and I have a feeling he will need this given daily, as his White count was back down to 1. He is also now growing fungus as well as the other gram negative bugs.

Gavin will be admitted today after he is becoming more unstable here at home. Last night he was dealing with intense riggors, high fever and low O2 sats -- it's time to be admitted.

Last issue is that if you look at the photos in this blog you will notice my child has been wearing the same clothes for the past three days. ooops. If you look even harder at the blog header and intro photo, you may think that we haven't changed him in over a year. Well we have, but I think he is due for an outfit change. Prioritize people. Wardrobe in on the bottom of my list. I promise to put a new shirt on him.

Promise.

Praying for Gavin! If not for school, my son has been known to wear the same outfit all weekend long!

Didn't even notice the outfit issue until you pointed it out! He is beautiful in whatever he wears!

We homeschool, but still, our boys (5 and 7) wore the same outfit (I'm hoping they changed their underwear, but I honestly didn't check :) for 5 days straight last week. Clothes is a battle I don't fight--not eternally significant (at least if it's modest!). We continue to pray for Gavin and the other three of you every day. I know we've never met in person, but we have much love for your family.
love,
Audrey

Don't worry about it! I do the same thing with Reagan and my mom is always the first to call me on it..."is that the same outfit she was wearing yesterday?!?!?" Yeah, yeah...sometimes there's more on your plate than worrying about outfit changes! No one here is giving you a hard time about it, that's for sure! You just take care of that little one and we'll keep you all in our prayers!

I am follower but first time commenter. I got here by way of Ally Heintz's blog (her mom became good friends with my good friend while they were in Pgh). Anyway I thought it was time I commented vs. just read to let you know many prayers are being said for Gavin in our house.
And I was just thinking the other day how cute his clothes are with the boots and leggings and didn't even notice it was the same outfit. Also, your daughter is adorable, but you know that already.

I'll try to comment more often, just know lots of prayers are being said!

Karen,
Just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you guys today as you prepare for another hospital admission. I hate that for you, but yet still know its necessary. I'm praying for some resolution for the current issues Gavin is struggling with. I hated having Ash on the clonodine patch last fall. I felt as though she had disappeared from me. The minute the patch came off the light in her eyes came back and the switch was turned on. I'm hoping for something else to be found to help Gavin. Just wanted you to know were here checking everyday. Take care. Trish Adams

May you all find some peace during this time and that little Gavin is comfortable and not in pain!

We've been known to see the same clothes all weekend if we're not leaving the house...so what. If the kids are happy & reasonably clean, it's no big deal. Praying that a quick admission does the trick & sees you all back home again healthy in no time!

Clothes are the least of your worries girl........I remember when I was a little girl I never wanted to change my little white undershirt. We live in Mn and my mom would put me in the bathtub with my undershirt still on and not until it got all wet would I take it off =)
It would be a dull grey color and I would still want to wear it! Strange but when I turned 13 I changed my clothes so much my mom asked me why it was in the was when it was not even dirty!
God bless you and I'll keep little Gavin in my prayers!
Love from MN tonight.
